TRON (The Real-Time Operating System Nucleus) is a standard real-time operating system ( RTOS ) kernel that can be tailored to any embedded system . TRON, originally invented by Ken Sakamura, has become a standard for embedded systems in Japan. The specification and its variants are used in more than 3,000,000,000 microprocessors worldwide. The main focus of the TRON project, supported almost entirely by Japanese industries, is to provide an environment for distributed computing among small machines on a vast scale.

- ITRON Project Archive
- The ITRON Project creates standards for real-time operating system specifications for embedded systems and related specifications. Many products have been developed based on the ITRON specifications, and now ITRON is a de-fact standard operating system specification for small-scale embedded systems in Japan. The ITRON Project is promoted by the ITRON Specification Group in the TRON Association, as one of the subproject of the TRON Project.

Mark Twain quote for the day:
When Adam ate the apple in the Garden and learned how to multiply and replenish, the other animals learned the Art, too, by watching Adam. It was cunning of them, it was neat; for they got all that was worth having out of the apple without tasting it and afflicting themselves with the disastrous Moral Sense, the parent of all the immoralities.
