- Embedded Board, eXpandable (EBX) Standard
- Until now, embedded system designers had to choose among off-the-shelf backplane solutions, desktop motherboards, and proprietary designs. Size and power consumption constraints hampered finding the right solutions for embedded deployment. Consequently, OEMs wanting to purchase off-the-shelf equipment to shorten time-to-market were often forced to develop proprietary solutions.

- EBX Vs. PC/104, Platform Selection Considerations
- There are some remarkable synergies between EBX (Embedded Board eXpandable) and the family of PC/104 buses: PC/104, PC/104-Plus, and PCI-104. Most notably, both platforms offer flexibility and can be used as a standalone system or in a stack with other expansion boards. In addition, both platforms are appropriate for deeply embedded applications where long-term availability and high-reliability are crucial.
